Last week, those in the basketball world were shocked when news broke out that Detroit Pistons had made a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.

On the night of February 28th, the Clippers traded 5-time all-star Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons. The trade included Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a first and second round draft pick, and also PFs Willie Reed and Brice Johnson from LAC.

Many people including NBA star Lebron James were surprised by the trade and didn’t see it coming. It was even shocking to Griffin himself. In a press conference last Wednesday, when introduced and asked about the trade, Griffin commented and said that he found out about the trade the same way everyone else did…on twitter. Usually players are informed before hand that they will be traded or they already know if they’re on the trade block.

“Basketball is a business, the NBA is a business, and they made a decision,” Griffin told ESPN. “The only thing — I just wish I had known or had the opportunity to talk to somebody beforehand. Finding out through Twitter, through other people, is a tough way to find out when you’ve been with a franchise for so long. But at the end of the day, basketball is a business, and I want to play where a team wants me.”(via Washington Post)

Since the trade, the Pistons have played a total of 4 games and have won all four. Blake Griffin has averaged 22.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists since the trade. Andre Drummond has also put up some stellar numbers since the trade as well.

Hopefully this trade can benefit the Pistons and make a positive impact in the long-term. The Pistons are currently tied for 8th place in the Eastern Conference, and are aiming to make the playoffs. With this big move, many people believe that this team might be able to pull off a playoff run.
