Mac Red Singles is a bowling tournament that occurred February 4th, 2018 at Sterling Lanes bowling alley.

There are 140 bowlers total that participate in the competition. Overall, there are ten teams that participate, five girl teams and five boy teams. With there being six members in each team.

Mac Red Singles allows both Junior Varsity and Varsity bowling to participate in the tournament.

Only the top 16 qualify and move on to the one on one competition.

Senior, Lexi Smigiel, ended up as number one out of the 16. But, later on ended up losing to Rebecca Lidwick from Lakeshore high school, resulting in their end score being 166-181.

The team as a whole also ended up losing during the first round. They lost by just a few pins.

That resulted in Smigiel going from first place to eleventh place. “Even though I lost my match, I feel like it made me a better bowler just like any other loss because I learn from my mistake”. Overall, she feels the team did “the best we could of done.”

Before the Mac Red Singles, the team always gathers together and they all hype each other up to motivate each other to do better throughout the tournament. Team leader, Keegan Ratobylski, gathers with them and gives them a motivational speech.

Smigiel states that, “as a team we all connect really well.” She loves how close her team members and her are. They have become her second family and she loves every second she spends with them.

By the end of the tournament the team felt that they “were never disappointed in the way they bowled”. She they were all happy about the way it all turned out even if they didn’t all win, they’re happy for the team members that did.
