National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is an after school club held on Mondays by Mrs. Wilson, the art teacher of Chippewa. She runs the classes Painting, Drawing, Art Foundations, and Photography.

Wilson has been running this club for 7 years, and doesn’t intend to stop any time soon. She is extremely dedicated to teaching her students everything she can about art. “My main goal is to help students who can’t take art during their regular schedule. Everything I do here, I try to make as interesting and art related as possible.”

One of the senior students in her club, Alana Nouhan, touched on the subject. “I find that in this particular club, everyone is extremely accepting. You won’t find anyone sitting alone or not having fun because art is whatever they want it to be.” Nouhan said.

Some of their previous projects include painting bottles and tie dying shirts. “The tie dye was probably my favorite,” another member, Gabby Pitcher, said. “It’s so unique and they all come out differently every time. Kind of like the atmosphere here, no one is really the same. You could talk to two different people sitting right next to each other and have two completely separate personalities all together.” Pitcher said.

The current project they’re working on is painting coasters to take home and it will be one of the last projects before the club comes to a halt at the end of the year.
