The Detroit Tigers opening day will be hosted on March 29th at Comerica Park facing the Pittsburgh pirates in a three-game inter-league series. The forecast calls to be around mid 50’s with a 30% chance of rain. Comerica Park will be hosting 81 home games in the current season coming up. This 2018 season will mark the Tigers 118th season in Detroit and their 19th season at Comerica park. The March 29th game vs. the Pirates will mark the earliest home opener in Comerica Park history.

After a good 10 years of success, unfortunately the Tigers seems to be at a rebuild mode for about the next three or four years. Good news is the minor league teams seem to have a lot of potential and a lot of valuable prospects to choose from. The Tigers currently have three right handed pitchers: Franklin Perez, Alex Faedo, and Matt Manning. It marks the first time since 2014 the team has had multiple players on the baseball America list and the first time since the team has had three. Alex Faedo played college baseball for the University of Florida Gators and was a first round draft pick and a top prospect who seems to bring a lot of hope to Detroit.

Faedo throws three primarily pitches: a fast ball, a slider, and a curve ball. “As long as I’m getting outs and winning games, I don’t really care about all of the extra stuff,” mentioned Faedo.  Thats just what Detroit needs, someone that gets the job done and gets a win for the Tigers.

Starting the season the Tigers will be changing the classic curved old English D logo on their home uniforms to match the sharp logo on their hats. In August the Tigers will also be retiring the numbers of Alan Trammel and Jack Morris. It is sure to say the baseball program is making change due to the fact of mostly new coaching staff.
