Chippewas varsity baseball  team really seemed to spark things up a bit this past weekend at at their out of state tournament.  The tournament took place in Cincinnati, Ohio also facing teams from other states. Two of the top teams in the state of Kentucky had played in the tournament, giving Chippewas team the best competition preparing them for the season later on.

The Big Reds took second at the tournament out of four teams. Over the weekend the boys  had really gotten closer to each other on and off  the  field really making  them  a better team overall. “The tournament  was a  great experience, we played some  good  competition in Kentucky and our team was able to see the potential  we have. It was also a good chance for the team to hang out together and get closer. I think  going away to play from  here for the weekend has made us an all around better team. We woke our bats up and saw what we are capable of. Im looking forward to building  off of  the weekend and bringing it into conference play.” Said senior Evan Wiegand.

Their record is currently standing at four wins and five losses but the boys are expecting to turn it around and get a few wins, the team is confident and do not seem to be worried. They still have to work on a few things like every other team but their bats are starting to come alive a lot more leading them to score more runs, which seemed to be one of the bigger problems in past games. This team is a close group of guys who many of the players play for travel teams during the summer working on their weakness making the Big Reds an overall better team.

Come out and support your schools varsity team as the season continues!
