“Mom and Me” by Jamie Thorp
Every year, art students get the opportunity to showcase some of their work in the CVHS Art Show held in the auditorium lobby. For the remainder of the month, you can head down and check out some of the best pieces of the school year.
Jamie Thorp, a senior, has been working in advanced drawing to create her own display for the show full of her artwork. Two of her pieces were entered in Scholastics, a program that allows art students to win scholarship money, this past winter. “Our assignment was to put our own spin on another artist’s work so I turned Alex Grey’s ‘Kiss of the Muse’ into a drawing of my mom and I,” Jamie shared.

Sarah Garlock, another senior, also had multiple pieces featured in the show. “My favorite part of the art show was probably getting to really see the huge variety of mediums available at the school, along with the insane amount of talent in all the classes. From two- dimensional art, such as drawing, painting, and photography, to the three- dimensional works of ceramics and jewelry, I was exposed to the endless possibilities and creativity that exists here that otherwise often goes unnoticed by students,” Sarah expressed.
